1997 was the year we took a 2 centre holiday first at Vitznau followed by a week in Lugano.

Vitznau is the home of the Rigi Railway on Lake Lucerne whilst Lugano borders Italy through the southern end of the St Gottard Pass.

Also featured is an ADL tour to Belgium

Various photo's taken on the main-line as well as preserved railways , particularly the GCR and MRC.

Spanish holiday taken in Cambrils. Travelled independently to Barcelona catching train to Cambrils with extended train change in Tarragona.

I can thoroughly recommend a stop off at Tarragona where there is a constant procession of both passenger and freight trains, as well as on average a dozen or so stabled loco's opposite the station.

This situation has not changed since the last time I was there in 1968.

During the period 1989 to 1992 Reading was a place where the variety of traction was oustanding. 50's and NSE liveried 47's to Oxford, 33's on Freight were everyday sights . I hope this small collection gives a flavour of that variety

Isle of Man Holiday 2005

There was a time when organised railtours were able to view Toton or independently for a donation of £3 the depot could be viewed privately. This collection shows photo's taken at that time , a time when a driver said 'Do you want to have a drive of this 56'. The answer was yes - the loco was 56078.

It's a shame we cannot repeat this sort of event.
